We have reached another milestone and, at the risk of sounding "trunky", we will be released 1 month from today. It truly is hard to realize that the summer has gone by so rapidly.
This week, for the second time this summer, we have the girls from the Provo Canyon School staying in our camp 5. (Click on title for web site.)
The last time they came, and again today, the sisters of the Relief Society came up to tie quilts with the girls. It is really fun to watch their reactions as they learn this new skill and relate to the Sisters here.
While they are here we are not to talk about God, Religion, or anything related to it. We can answer questions.
The girls come from all over the country, mostly from the West and most are not members of the LDS Church. They are sent here because of social and behavioral problems. The opportunity to come here is given them as a reward for good behavior and improvement in their life skills.
As we were leaving tonight to come to our Prep Day in PG, they were all in one cabin and just banging up a storm on drums. They have a music therapy teacher who comes and brings all the "stuff" and they really do learn how to make some great sounding rhythms.
It is sad on the one hand to to see these girls with their problems and then remember that they too are children of Father in Heaven. What a great opportunity it is for us to share the Gospel with them, even if only by example.
The fall colors continue to bloom and are becoming quite beautiful. They yellows haven't started yet but the reds are sure coming on. Hope you enjoyed the picture, and for any who don't know, the flags are colors representing the Young Women Values. The bring tears to many leaders, and at times to us as well, when coming over the hill to camp. That is really the first thing you see.
Fall is coming to this side of the mountain range as well! I always notice when the mountains look like they did the week Daddy died, and this year looks a tad "early."
ReplyDeleteI love the autumn time too. I'm glad we're coming to Utah to see the colors on Timp. See you soon.
