While serving as missionaries at Heber Valley Camp, Lois and I have learned many things. Among them, patience, hard work, devotion to the Lord's work, how to listen for the promptings of the Holy Spirit, and to recognize the hand of the Lord in all we do in our lives. We are still serving here and hope to learn much more.
One of the hardest things for me has been to really and truly accept the fact that we are led each day, in all that we do, by our faith and listening for that still small voice. But I do, and we are.
Most of you know that early in our mission I suffered from some illness which came close to laying me down. It was difficult to even do the simplest of chores. I was given a blessing by our camp leadership and have now accepted the fact that, while I still struggle, I know the Lord's hand is in my life and I can now hear that voice guiding me and helping me to do the work we are called here to do. At times I have strength that I know only He can provide. I believe this so much that we have committed to return again next year for another 6 months.
After visits to our doctor and with their help I am getting much better physically as well.
I do recognize that the Lord stands ready to help me if I am willing to do my part. My Father taught once that "we must pray like it all depends on the Lord, and then go to work like it all depends on us." I could not have received better council.
